Elspeth Darley
Dr in Counselling Psychology
About Me
Elspeth has a doctorate in counselling psychology and specialises in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy: a therapeutic method based on the idea that our early life experiences influence the way we relate to other people and how we treat ourselves. She is also trained in and practices Couples’ Counselling, person-centred counselling, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. All these therapeutic approaches are integrated into her practice to ensure you receive personalised treatment for whatever you want support with.
Elspeth is highly trained in working with all eating disorder diagnoses and disordered eating presentations. She works in an NHS Adult Eating Disorder Service and is experienced in working closely with medical professionals in providing specialised care.
Elspeth takes a holistic approach to therapy, drawing on her research interests in integrating spirituality and religious beliefs into therapy and treatment plans.
More recently, Elspeth has undergone certification in psychodynamic Couples’ Counselling from Tavistock Relationships. This enhances her understanding of complex relational dynamics that include experience in offering family work.
At the outset of therapy, Elspeth provides a psychological assessment to help you make informed choices about the type of support you want.
