Olga Vallianou

BABCP Accredited Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist

About Me

Olga completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology in Athens Greece and postgraduate studies in Counselling Psychologist in London. She became a Chartered Counselling Psychologist in 2004. In the context of her Counselling Psychology studies, she was trained in a variety of therapeutic models, such as CBT, person centered, psychodynamic and systemic. This experience has given Olga a broad understanding of conceptualizing personal difficulties.

She has been practising CBT since 2001. After practicing CBT for several years, she developed a great interest in Schema Therapy and decided to train as a Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer. She considers her training in schema therapy model a great asset in helping people shift from maladaptive behavioural patterns and long standing emotional and relationship difficulties.

Olga has a long working experience in a variety of clinical settings, both in London and Athens, providing individual and group short term therapy (CBT) as well as longer term individual therapy (Schema therapy). She also has a long experience in providing supervision to Assistant Psychologists, trainee Counselling Psychologists, counsellors and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.

She has worked for four years in Cambridge IAPT service, and currently works as a Principal Counselling Psychologist and Supervisor in the Adult Community Psychology (ACP) in Essex.

Olga can provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Schema Therapy, depending on a the needs or the nature of the difficulties of the people she sees. She always plans treatment in an open and collaborative way. Her therapeutic approach also involves elements of compassionate focused therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT)and mindfulness.

Olga holds a professional insurance and abides by the codes of ethical and professional practice of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
